“Recent media attention has lead to a great deal of interest in the invasive plant Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), an extremely large perennial plant with stem hairs and leaves which contain a clear, highly toxic sap that, when in contact with the skin, can cause burns, blisters and scarring. Though there are no official records of this plant in New Brunswick, numerous people around the province have reported sightings of what they believe to be Giant Hogweed.
